Glory and Fire

James Weidner III   -

Ezekiel 10:1-10 (NKJV) 1 And I looked, and there in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim, there appeared something like a sapphire stone, having the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 2 Then He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, “Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he went in as I watched. 3 Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court. 4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and paused over the threshold of the temple; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’s glory. 5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even in the outer court, like the voice of Almighty God when He speaks.

6 Then it happened, when He commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,” that he went in and stood beside the wheels. 7 And the cherub stretched out his hand from among the cherubim to the fire that was among the cherubim, and took some of it and put it into the hands of the man clothed with linen, who took it and went out. 8 The cherubim appeared to have the form of a man’s hand under their wings.

9 And when I looked, there were four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by one cherub and another wheel by each other cherub; the wheels appeared to have the color of a beryl stone. 10 As for their appearance, all four looked alike—as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

  1. A vision into the realm of glory.

1.1. How magnificent the Lord our God is.
1.2. A vision to the other side.
1.3. There is a whole other realm happening as we are here at this moment. 1.4. Oh people of God that we could see the other side while walking through this side.
1.5. This is what sets apart the Spirit led man and women of God. 1.6. Dreams and visions of God.

  2. The man dressed in linen instructed to, go in.

Ezekiel 10:1-10 (NKJV) 1 And I looked, and there in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim, there appeared something like a sapphire stone, having the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 2 Then He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, “Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.”

2.1. Who is the man in linen.
2.2.Daniel also had a vision of this man in linen.

Daniel 10:1-12 (NKJV) 1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, but the appointed time was long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision. 2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

2.2.1. Daniel was fasting and seeking the Lord.
2.2.1.1. No delicacies, meats, or wine, and bathing…

4 Now on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, that is, the Tigris, 5 I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist was girded with gold of Uphaz! 6 His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in color, and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude.

2.2.2. A vision of Jesus as our resurrected exalted Savior.

7 And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great terror fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

2.2.3. Only Daniel saw for the others fled in fear.

Hebrews 12:21 (NKJV) And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.”)

2.2.4. Lights out in the glory.

Dan. 10:8 Therefore I was left alone when I saw this great vision, and no strength remained in me; for my vigor was turned to frailty in me, and I retained no strength. 9 Yet I heard the sound of his words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.

2.3.Then Daniel himself stood trembling in response to the Glory…

10 Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands. 11 And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling. 12 Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

2.4. Prayers were heard from the first day.
2.5. So it went in the vision of the man clothed in linen.

3. Go in, fill your hands with coals of fire.

“Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.”

3.1. Holy fire originates from the altar.

3.2. The fire can only be secured from the altar.

“Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,”

3.3. He went in.

Psalms 24:7-10 (NKJV) 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory.

3.4. Go in to get your hands on some fire.
3.5. Scatter the fire over the city.

3.5.1. We take fire from the altar and scatter it over our life.

3.5.2. Need to get hold of some fire.
3.6. Not a destructive fire but a purifying and preserving fire.

Luke 3:16 (KJV) John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

3.7. The more I read the Bible the more I see the Holy Spirit’s work.

4. Glory & fire filled the house.

4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and paused over the threshold of the temple; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’s glory.

4.1. When the house is filled with glory, the house is filled with the Holy Spirit.

4.2. Your house needs to be filled with glory!

4.2.1. Don’t just give your house a face lift or a paint job.
4.2.2. I’m talking about a full gutting and renovation.
4.2.3. If a house is only cleaned up and not filled up…

Matthew 12:43-45 (NKJV) 43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

4.2.4. Ela… having a house party when parents are gone. The problem is the guest who do not care for the home.

4.2.5. Your sin will always find you out.
4.3. Saul’s conversion encounter with glory.

Acts 9:1-6 (NKJV) 1 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” 5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” 6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

4.3.1. Saul was a determined man.
4.3.2. He felt it was His duty to persecute the Church.
4.3.3. Until he had an encounter with the glory of God.
4.3.4. All his determination fled in the presence of Glory.
4.3.5. Ela… When what you are doing you are convinced you are right, but in the end you are 100% wrong. It should be a scary thing to be 100% right and to be so all the time. Just give the Lord space.

Acts 5:38-39 (NKJV) 38 And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; 39 but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it— lest you even be found to fight against God.”

4.4. How a person responds to an encounter with the glory of God determines.

4.4.1. We would like to think that every person would respond like Saul to the glory of God… but we also all know people who have been given a second change at life many times and still continue to go back to the pig pen.

4.4.2. People who have been saved from death and go back flirting with it.

Communion:

Hebrews 12:22-25 (NKJV) 22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. 25 See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven,
