Be Not Deceived – Second Coming – Part 2
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Matthew 24:1 (NKJV) 1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
1. Jesus was not impressed.
- The Disciples tried to impress Jesus with the Buildings of the Temple.
- Jesus had to quickly remind them that that building was going to be destroyed.
- Ela… remember Jesus was there at the building of the tower of Babel when all mankind wasdispersed.
- Herod’s temple was a spectacular sight.
- Tabernacles class summarized:
- Tent of Meeting – Moses – used 400 years (369 Shiloh
- First Temple – Solomon – used roughly 400 years (410)
- Second Temple – Zerubbabel – used roughly 500 years
- Herod’s Temple – extension of Zerubbabel’s – 90 years – Jesus’ time.
- It was magnificent and large.
- The Third Temple, which is unnecessary, but is thought to be built for thereestablishment of the sacrifice and used by the Anti-Christ to exalt himself as god.
- The third temple is unnecessary since we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV) 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
- Glorify God in your body.
- When we think of our bodies as the temple of God it will certainly motivate us to watch howwe treat it, what we put in it, and where we take it.
4. What will be the sign of your coming?
Matthew 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
Disciples questions:
- When will the Temple be destroyed.
- What is the sign of His Second coming.
- The end of all things.
5. Do not be deceived.
Matthew 24:4-5 (NKJV) 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
- Many will come and portray themselves to be workers of Christ.
- DO NOT be deceived.1 Corinthians 6:9 (NKJV) Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
1 Corinthians 15:33 (NKJV) Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
Galatians 6:7 (NKJV) Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
James 1:16 (NKJV) Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
2 Corinthians 11:14 (NKJV) And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
- Do not be led into error away from the truth.
- You will know them by their fruit.Matthew 7:16 You will know them by their fruit. Grapes aren’t gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles, are they? 17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a rotten tree produces bad fruit.
6. BE NOT troubled.
Matthew 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
• Troubled: alarmed or frightened.
Matt 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
• Days of tribulation will always be.
Matt 24:9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.
- Since the time the Israelites entered into the Promise land and began to receive their inheritance the people of God had enemies.
- Jerusalem has been captured and recaptured at least 20 times.
- There has seemingly always been tribulation for the people of God.
- We understand there is a difference between having some tribulation and the great tribulationthat will come upon the earth.
7. Many will be offended.
Matthew 24:10 (NKJV) And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
- If I had to name the enemies #1 tool against believers I would say: offense.
- Perhaps people get offended at the trails that we need to go through.
- People get offended when being corrected.
- People get offended when unexplainable bad things happen to people we love.
- Offense cast all reason and logic aside.
8. The results of offense that is not reconciled and released.
- Betrayal.
- Hatred.
- False teaching and prophesy.
- Love grows cold.
- Lawlessness abounds.Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
9. When you see…
Matthew 24:15 (NKJV) 15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand),
- This is both now historical and prophetic.
- Happened 167 BCE and 70 AD.
- But will happen again.10. A people delivered out of the great tribulation.
Matthew 24:21 (NKJV) For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
• So Pastor what is your stance on the tribulation: there will be one.
Revelation 7: (NKJV)
9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
13 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?”
14 And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
• A great multitude from all nations and tongues were taken out of the great tribulation and were clothed in white singing a song salvation.
10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
Conclusion: Watch & Pray
Mark 13:33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.
Mark 13:35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
